Engagement: Driving positive impact beyond business

Creating lasting change through social innovation and leadership

True impact goes beyond the walls of an organization—it extends to communities, societies, and the world. I lead transformative social innovation projects that blend design thinking with human-centered solutions—creating a lasting impact that benefits communities and drives global progress.

By collaborating with global organizations and fostering innovation, I help drive progress not only within businesses but also in the communities they serve. My work is dedicated to inspiring future leaders, promoting sustainable innovation, and making a meaningful difference in the world.

Collaborating with global organizations and networks to foster responsible, human-centered approaches to digital transformation and societal progress.

  • Thought Leadership in Action:
Engaging with diverse communities to promote sustainable innovation, leveraging expertise to mentor, guide, and inspire future leaders.

Empowering communities and leaders through collaborative social innovation:

These videos showcase transformative social innovation projects where design thinking and human-centered solutions were applied to address pressing societal challenges. Beyond creating lasting impact for the community, those initiatives also provided participants with a unique opportunity to step outside their day-to-day environment and apply cutting-edge innovation methodologies. The experience not only fostered positive societal change but also equipped participants with new perspectives and skills they could bring back to their own organizations, driving further innovation and growth in their daily business.

A Rwandaful experience

Building on our innovation and transformation success, I led a dedicated team back to Kigali for another Innovation Program. After refining our approach, we introduced the first-ever Impact Week Bootcamps, held in Europe and on-site in Kigali. In partnership with SOS Children’s Villages Technical High School, we trained 38 innovation coaches and worked with nearly 140 high school students. See how this experience created a lasting impact.

It has been a pleasure to collaborate with Joern since 2013, with the initial sparks of digital transformation at Nestle we called “Digital Days”. The journey since then, which still continues today, is a testament to Joern`s capabilities of innovation, design and leadership. With his business and technology acumen, he constantly challenges boundaries while asking for the why’s. In his pursuit of keeping Nestle steps ahead of other organizations, he develops and implements concepts, research and experiments with business impact. His expertise and passion for Design Thinking enables engaging others to make digital innovation happen, with purpose. By founding and leading the Innovation Methodologies team at Nestle, and the global community Design@Business, he realizes our reality that a transformative innovation culture is the key success factor to generate business value.

Looking at our common journey and the movement that Joern created at Nestlé it is difficult to emphasize just one aspect of this amazing achievement. I will try nevertheless. I especially admire the dedication and cleverness that Joern and his team showed when they brought the Coach Journey into life. This is a training scheme for future design thinking coaches that itself incorporates all the attributes of the method it is teaching. One of them is the concept of diversity. Diversity seen from the challenge to "produce the best coaches that you can" means that their education must include influences from outside of your own company. So the simplest way to achieve this is to make employees of other (not competing) companies part of their training. And Joern achieved that by opening the Nestlé trainings and engaging the alumni in the Design at Business movement. I hope the top management at Nestlé can appreciate the benefit of making their innovation key players look beyond their corporate horizon. The cross-company networks created during the coach journey will continue to create mutual benefits for the years to come. I am eager to contribute to this network because I can be sure that I will be overcompensated by the other participants.
